We’re back from our family trip to the US and sure enough I’m in my home sweet home mode. It was definitely one of the most exciting trips we had so far, but it’s also so sweet to be back.

It was Saturday evening when we landed back in Israel, actually an evening before Sukkot 2nd holiday. That allowed us to make a slow landing and have additional couple of days to rest and digest. This trip will take a long time to process. We’ve seen so many new amazing places and been through so many adventures.

It took quite a few days to unpack, manage the laundry mountains and get back into the swing of our local time zone. Yesterday was the first night that I managed to sleep for 7 solid hours which made me believe that I’m done with the jet lag? The kids are back to school already and E went back to the office two days ago.
Except for packing Etsy orders I haven’t spent much time in the studio this week. We took it all slowly and I was and still am deeply in my home sweet home zone. Enjoying the slow landing. The hours spent in my studio were colourful and bright thanks to your orders. Thank you for each and every order placed when I was away and thank you for waiting till I was back. It is so appreciated. All your orders are making their way to you now. We sent the last ones yesterday. There are still a few blanket packs available in my Etsy shop if you like.

After my laundry piles were back under control I went to visit our local nursery shop and made some planting, in and out of our balcony garden. Totally a home sweet home mode. SO good to be back and as always, Gardening is one of the most grounding activities plus I came back so inspired. On this trip we discovered that all five of us get inspired from the little things the most. Like for example driving around in a local neighborhood abroad and look at the house gardens. Oh, one of the best activities.

We were back to our daily walks the next day after we landed and I was so excited to see a new seasonal bloom on our local walking path. Weather wise, it’s definitely getting into the autumn here. There were raindrops falling on my head yesterday evening at the last part of the walk. What a bliss.
Here’s my current knitting and crochet pile which was mostly made during our trip. I can’t wait to tell you more about it. There’s a new sock pattern coming your way soon which I really hope you’ll like. I still need to take some nice photos and now I regret not doing it on our beautiful drive on road #1 from San Fransisco to L.A. But I guess I’ll find a nice local spot for it in the next few days.

All in all, the first week back was mostly about home and I’m all here for it. This weekend we have no special plans except for being slow and lazy. We might make it to the beach though, I missed my barefoot beach walks. I’m so happy I made it to my little blog corner, thanks for visiting me here, xxMo

What a beautiful home to return to! Enjoy your weekend. I’m so glad you enjoyed your visit to the western US. I’ve been living in California for over 30 years and love it – beautiful terrain, great diversity, and mostly fantastic weather. Yes, we need more rain here in SoCal! Fingers crossed for this season.
I’m intrigued by your dried sourdough starter. I tried to freeze some, but couldn’t revive it – the freezer may have been too cold. Very sad. Since my breadmaking is intermittent now, I’ve moved toward more non-sourdough options. I miss our starter – my daughter started it while hunkering down with us during the pandemic and we kept it alive for over a year. It made good bread.
Currently I’m moving toward the recipe in the Poilaine book and also the no-knead type of bread. I’ll leave the link below – very long.
Enjoy your Home Sweet Home.

Lois Petren

Welcome home! So glad to see that you are back safely and are enjoying all that home brings. The best part of any trip is home 🙂 And of course, you sound like you had the best time. Was the trip relaxing for you? Traveling is so rewarding, but can also be very tiring . . . sometimes always go, go, go . . . .
I have sourdough sitting on my counter too. Getting ready to start feeding it again. I allowed it to go dormant and now i”m ready to begin the sourdough process again. Did you eat sourdough in San Francisco? It’s well known for its sourdough.
Sending you big hugs across the wide pond! XO
Jill
Looking forward to seeing your knitting and crochet projects!
I’ve never done sourdough , am slightly intrigued I must say!
