Do you find yourself craving for an easy knitting / crochet projects these days? Something not too complicated to bring a little colour into you life? I think we all do at the moment. We are all seeking comfort through these crazy days. Kiss blanket garter stitch knitting was born out of the same needs.
Keep – It – Simple – Stripes – Blanket – is a meditative garter stitch knitting project designed to fit our current mood. A project that doesn’t require any brain space and at the same time provides colour therapy. It’s heavily used by my family, since we spend much more time snuggling together in the living room recently.
> FINALLY << Both Pattern and Yarn Pack are available in my Etsy shop. I will only have limited quantities of the yarn pack at this time of the year. Blog subscribers, please check out your inbox for a 10% coupon code.
But first lets go trough everything you need to know about it.
Where it all started
A few months ago one of my Students told me she is looking for a simple-to-knit baby blanket project. I went to one of my project bags and took out this swatch. It was waiting there patiently for more than a year (the left picture above was taken on May 2019). Looking on her face reaction, it was clear that this is what she was looking for, so we drew a colour plan and she started knitting.
No brain space addictive project
Just like my student, I was in a strong need for an easy meditative knitting project. It was just the perfect time for me to start my own Kiss blanket, so I thought why not to Cast On? After I started knitting my soft stripy thing, I realized it became unbelievably addictive. Soon after more local knitters wanted to join our stripy meditation, so I knitted a few swatches and made colour decisions on the go. And they all waited till I made up my mind 😉
Inspiration on a daily basis
The cotton boxes wall in my new studio is a huge source of everyday joy and inspiration for me and my students. I love to keep it tidy and I’m never tired of organizing it. I wanted my Kiss blanket to reflect and provide this feeling of colour therapy.
Keep it simple
Kiss blanket is a super simple garter stitch knitting. Knitted back and forth while alternating between two colours. There’s no right or wrong side. One side creates clean sharp stripes while the other makes merging stripes and I really can’t tell which one is prettier. The result is a colour blocks blanket framed with a smooth I – cord traveling around the edges. Ending with two rounds of a crochet Slip Stitch as a tiny little detail for a tidy finish.
The pattern
I wrote down a step – by – step pattern followed by pictures and links to relevant video tutorials. Hurray to my new YouTube channel (PLEASE subscribe). It’s a knitting pattern that ends up with a little crochet detail. The pattern includes every piece of information you need in order to easily make your own Kiss Blanket.
Yarn pack
The kiss blanket Yarn pack includes 21 balls of Granny Kit cotton – 50 gr each. 19 different colours will make the colour blocks + one more ball of both colours #5 & #13 for the edging. The balls will be marked with numbers #1, #2, #3 and so on . . . so you know in which order to use them. Granny Kit cotton is a sport weight yarn. I will have limited quantities of yarn packs offered in my Etsy shop. Shop yarn pack here. The next picture will help you in case you use any other yarn but still want to keep my original Kiss blanket colour sequence.

So lovely to see you posting again on your blog. The knitted blanket is beautiful and you’ve combined the colours in such a clever and attractive way. It sounds like a perfect project for these strange times we are living with this pandemic which won’t go away.

Back again, Mo! I found your YouTube channel, but I don’t know how to get it in English! Also, the Etsy link you gave for the blanket pattern doesn’t take me to your shop, only to Etsy. I found your shop, but no blanket pattern!
Thank you for the links to a book you enjoyed and the neat candle lighter!
